Timeless Blue China # Part 1

Every time I visit my parents, I fall in love with blue and white home interior all over again as the house is throughout decorated with beautiful blue Chinese porcelain, vases and lamps. After all, what colour combo is more classic than Blue and White? Coincidentally, I also feel head over heals with Valentino (again!) Fall’13 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. I’m particular in awe for a range of  blue-and-white dresses in delicate brocades, lace and prints inspired by Dutch Delfware pottery. For an untrained eye (including myself), original blue China and Dutch Delfware resembles each other, and I learned what typically separate them (except the COO) is the making process as well as patterns used – Chinese porcelain is fired at higher temperature and Delfware patterns commonly illustrate Dutch native scenes like windmills, tulips, hunting scenes and landscapes. No matter the origin, Blue and White China – with it’s iconic indigo shade and endless pattern combinations has been the muse and source of inspiration for  myriad of designers including Robert Cavalli, Carolina Hererra, Tory BurchWestwood Men, Rodarte and John Galliano.
