Day 25, Saturday: Something someone told you about yourself that you’ll never forget (good or bad)

I meet my boyfriend during a real low-time in my life. It’s strange that it happened in that moment as I always thought you need to be completely happy yourself to happy with someone else. This just to tell you  – I was NOT happy – so it does happens. I agree that you cannot find happiness through another person. However, solely focusing on yourself may not bring happiness either. It’s all a very – delicate – balance. Without developing ourselves, we may get caught up projecting our hopes and dreams on the other person. However, if we are too self-centred, we limit our own personal growth as we after all, develop out from experiences with other human beings. Good as well as bad ones. I too, made a promise to myself many years ago to never depend on someone else. Ironically, it took me long time to realise that what truly make independent people, is at times letting the guard down and have the courage to depend on someone else. Reading today’s topic, my thoughts immediately went to this note that my boyfriend wrote me a few day’s after we meet. It was not a love letter,  but rather an act by compassion and encouragement, which in that moment was just what I needed .

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples”.

– Mother Teresa
