The Cartoon Comic Trend

After witnessing the cartoon-comic-trend rise from rags to riches – starting at the streets and working its way up to the runway – I finally gave in and bought myself a Forever 21-budget-grey-washed down Minnie tee. I was thinking twice about it been though. Growing up in the 80s, I had my fair share of of badly-made-not-so-cute-cartoon-outfits (paired with even less attractive side-bangs and leg-warmers). As  a consequence, I thought of that style episode as in the past never-to-be-relived-again.

However, after seeing all the quirky Superhero, Mickey and Minnie, Snoopy and Bart Simpson prints (any comic print in general), I had a change of heart. After all, I spent my childhood growing up with these characters (100% a Walt Disney gal). The least I could do is to honour this life-long-relationship by proudly wearing its leading lady. The secret to wear this trend in a chic and contemporary way – not repeating the-aerobics-look of the 80s –  is to pair it with a clean – minimal- silhouette. For myself, I’m planning to wear my Minnie tee with high-waisted black denim, pointy black pumps and a well-constructed jacket.

Name-worthy fashion icons like Madonna, Twiggy and Anna Dello Russo wearing cute Minnie Hats.
