BAMBOO SCAFFOLDING

I never stop to be amazed by the bamboo scaffolding technique that is used in Hong Kong. No matter how big, tall or grand, the buildings will be dressed in bamboo from ground to celling, all constructed by human-hands. Bamboo scaffolding is a technique that have been used for thousands of years in the region. Hence, many Hong Kongers think  about Bamboo scaffolding as “more” than a building technique. Instead one can argue it’s an art form as it’s an important part of Hong Kong’s culture and visual identity. A few months ago, the exhibition Centre in Wan Chai got a make-over and I snapped these quick photos. I don’t know about you, but I kind of prefer this view to end-result…
